Allocation of 10 million euros from the European Peace Fund for the strengthening of Armenia's defense capabilities will be discussed

The issue of allocation of 10 million euros from the European Peace Fund to Armenia will be included in the agenda of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union on July 22, Paralel.Az reports citing Armenpress.

The assistance provided by the European Peace Fund will be directed to strengthening the defense capacity of Armenia.

It was noted that the protection of civilians in emergency situations is a priority for the European Union, and this aid will be spent for a similar purpose.

However, the planned aid will in no way focus on the purchase of lethal weapons and will not include joint military exercises, as the EU does not have a military force.

It is also expected that the beginning of the European Commission-Armenia dialogue on the visa liberalization issue will be approved at the meeting of the heads of the foreign policy departments of the EU member countries. After the dialogue starts, the main tool for its conduct will be the action plan on the liberalization of the visa regime, which will be presented to the Armenian authorities.
