Georgia's 11th convocation parliament to hold its first session on Nov. 25
The first session of Georgia's XI convocation Parliament will be held on October 25, Paralel.Az reports citing Interpressnews.
According to Georgia's legislation, the president calls and opens the first session of the newly elected parliament, although this is the first time in Georgia's recent history that the President has not scheduled a session.
According to the parliament's regulations, in the absence of the president at the first session, the senior member of the parliament will open the session.
The Parliament is authorized to start working at the first session, if the majority of the newly elected Parliament - 76 deputies - is present.
According to the official results of the Georgian CEC, five political entities entered the Parliament of the XI convocation. The party "Georgian Dream" retained the official majority, which will be represented by 89 deputies. "Coalition for Changes" has 19 mandates, and "Unity - National Movement" has 16 mandates. "Strong Georgia" was able to enter 14 members into the parliament, while the party "Gakharia for Georgia" was awarded 12 mandates.
Except for "Georgian Dream", none of the parties that passed the threshold will recognize the results published by the CEC and will not enter the parliament.
