Border Troops Commander: 301 border and 134 regime violators detained this year
Since the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service (SBS) began operations in 2017, a total of 1,636 border violators and 1,021 regime violators have been detained as a result of urgent operational measures and the vigilance of border patrols, ensuring reliable protection of state borders," Lieutenant General Araz Mammadov, Commander of the Border Troops, told journalists at a briefing held at the Shamkir border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service, Paralel.Az reports.
According to him, 6 tons 928 kg of narcotic drugs and 533 thousand 406 psychotropic pills were seized and removed from circulation as a result of the measures implemented in the framework of the fight against smuggling and illegal circulation of drugs.
The total estimated value of the narcotics seized amounted to 162,610,694 manat.
Furthermore, Lieutenant General Araz Mammadov noted that as a result of the increasing technical capabilities at the border posts in line with modern requirements, in 2024 alone, 301 border violators and 134 regime violators had been detained. In addition, 1 ton and 148 kilograms of narcotics, as well as 30,038 psychotropic tablets, were discovered and removed from circulation, with a total value of AZN 13,174,694: "I would like to note that recently there have been attempts to smuggle narcotic substances into the country using various flying apparatus. However, thanks to the measures taken by us, these flying devices were intercepted, and the smuggling of narcotics into the country was successfully prevented."
