Moscow court fines Wikipedia $32,617 for failing to remove information

 

Moscow's Tagansky District Court once again fined the Wikimedia Foundation, which owns the Russian-language Wikipedia, for refusing to remove false information with a fine of 3 mln rubles ($32,617), the court told TASS on Tuesday, Paralel.Az reports.

"Wikimedia Foundation was found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure by the owner of a website to delete information or an Internet page if the obligation to delete such information is provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation), it was sentenced to an administrative fine in the amount of 3 million rubles," the court representative said.

Wikimedia Foundation is a non-profit organization registered as a charity in the United States. The organization is known as the platform for Wikipedia and related projects. It has already been fined more than 10 times in Russia.
