Orthodox celebrated Christmas
On the night of January 6-7, Orthodox Christians celebrated the blessed birth of Jesus Christ - Christmas.
At night, a festive liturgy was held in all Orthodox churches in Baku.
The ceremony was held in accordance with the rules of the quarantine regime.
Christmas begins on Holy Night. This day is the last day of the 40-day diet for Orthodox Christians and the period of preparation for Christmas.
Earlier, on January 5, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as every year, congratulated the Orthodox community on Christmas. The congratulatory letter emphasizes that representatives of different nations and religions have lived in Azerbaijan for centuries in an atmosphere of good neighborliness, friendship and mutual trust.
