22 people trying to violate Azerbaijan's state border detained
As a result of ongoing border protection and operational search measures aimed at ensuring the security of the state border and combating illegal migration, the State Border Service's Border Troops have detained 22 people attempting to illegally cross the state border in the service areas of the “Shamkir,” “Khudat,” and “Zagatala” border detachments, the State Border Service Press Center told Paralel.Az.
On September 24 at 09:30, one citizen of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, 2002-born Abdulkader Ben Bahi, was detained while attempting to cross from Azerbaijan to Georgia in the service area of the “Shamkir” border detachment, on September 26 at 20:40, two citizens of Algeria, 1998-born Sarra Benuoali and 1995-born Rabi Seif Elnaser, were detained while attempting to cross from Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation in the service area of the “Khudat” border detachment.
In the service area of the “Zagatala” border detachment, on September 26 at 20:50, six individuals—1992-born Hussain Sayed Shahid, 2005-born Abbas Sayed Haider, 2006-born Ullah Mohib, 2009-born Sarwar Nadeem, 2003-born Ahmad Naseer, and 1997-born Sohaib Muhammad—were detained. On September 27 at 22:15, 12 more individuals were detained, including 1990-born Virk Asif Ali, 1978-born Shazia, 1988-born Raza Ali, 2000-born Elahi Fazal, 1995-born Haq Zamam Ul, 2002-born Virk Abdul Haseeb, 2004-born Muhammad Awon, 2000-born Abbas Muhammad Zahid, 2005-born Ullah Muhammad Sami, 2000-born Hamza Ameer, 2001-born Ali Zain, and 1995-born Ahmad Jameel. Additionally, at 23:10, one more individual, 1989-born Shahzad Khurram, was detained, making a total of 19 citizens of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan attempting to cross the state border from Azerbaijan to Georgia.
As a result of the investigative measures, it was determined that the detained persons had officially arrived in the country and were intending to illegally migrate to one of the European countries by violating the state border.
Operational and investigative measures to uncover the illegal migration channel are ongoing.
