EU to announce new initiative on demining in Azerbaijan

The EU and Azerbaijan remain close partners. Our active dialogue continues, Peter Michalko, the head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, said in a meeting with journalists, Paralel.Az reports.

He noted that there are priority areas between the two parties.

"Energy and trade sectors are also among them. We also have cooperation on the climate change, which is an important topic this year".

Peter Michalko expressed readiness to support Azerbaijan on COP29 and to share their experiences in this direction.

"Another important field for Azerbaijan is demining, where the EU is one of the largest donors and supporters. We have been cooperating in areas crucial for Azerbaijani citizens since the early years of the country's independence. This includes areas of food security, internally displaced persons, and economic cooperation. We will announce a new initiative on demining in Azerbaijan in the coming days," the diplomat emphasized.

The ambassador noted that the EU is one of Azerbaijan's most active partners, and this partnership is based on common priorities and values.
