The police who arrived at the scene found that Ibraev had fallen from a height and was injured. Examining the apartment revealed that the kitchen window was open. According to the newspaper, the deceased was an accomplice of the former head of the State Security Service Karim Massimov, who was fired amid protests in the country. He was replaced by Ermek Sagimbayev, the former head of the State Security Service. Massimov was arrested on January 8 on charges of high treason.
