Metropolitan: "This is the free choice of the people"

First Hierarch Metropolitan Hilarion said that the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad did not advise its churches on coronavirus vaccination. He said people shouldn't be afraid of being vaccinated, noting that he had already been vaccinated. The Metropolitan stressed that the church did not advise on this matter, adding that it was a free choice of the people. According to him, the situation with the coronavirus has affected church life, but these changes cannot be called fundamental. At the beginning of the pandemic, people were unable to visit the temples, but now they have the opportunity. It is reported that dozens of churches, mostly in the United States and around the world, are under the jurisdiction of this body. In 2020-2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was necessary to sharply limit the number of employees who come to work.
