Zardusht Alizade: "The US tried to reprimand Turkey, but now Turkey is reprimanding the United States"
The Minister of Defense Industry of Russia announced that a new agreement on the S-400 would be signed with Turkey in the near future.
In the near future, a new agreement on the supply of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems may be signed between Turkey and Russia. This was stated by the General Director of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev on August 23 during the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum.
“The consultations are continuing, we are at the final stage. In the near future we will begin to draw up and sign an agreement with our partners, ”Mikheev said.
Interestingly, the S-400 deal between Turkey and Russia caused serious discontent between the former and the United States, and the United States deprived Turkey of the F-35 project. Although the United States is trying to distance Turkey from Russia, it fails, and official Ankara continues on its way. The question is, will this hurt Turkey's prospects?
We turned to the political scientist Zardusht Alizade with a question. The political scientist said that every step taken by Turkey, its president, prime minister, the Security Council and think tanks assesses these steps, determines the expected harm and results: “Turkey understands very well what it is doing - it understands that it can gain and what she can lose. Turkey takes this step, thinking about the future of the country and the interests of the state - these interests are not threatened by any blow. Third, Turkey assesses what they can do with it - they cannot push NATO out because NATO needs Turkey; they could not sell weapons, they did not sell them, they did not trust the Turkish Patriot air defense system, they excluded it from the F-35 program. Instead, by purchasing an alternative weapon, Turkey proved that I am an independent state, I have my own interests! But our state interests do not coincide with yours by 100 percent, since we respect your state interests, and you also respect our state interests. The United States tried to reprimand Turkey, but now Turkey is reprimanding the United States. ”
We will remind, in 2017, Russia and Turkey signed an agreement on the supply of S-400.
