Mafia godmother arrested

70-year-old Maria Licciardi, known as the "godmother" of the mafia in the Italian region of Naples and who followed the Italian police for many years, was arrested in the capital of Rome. Licciardi reportedly bought a one-way ticket on a cheap airline. He was detained while boarding the plane. The Italian press nicknamed her "Bloody Mary" because of her violent tendencies.
Licciardi, who played an important role in the Secondigliano Alliance drug cartel, became the head of the mafia family after his older brother Gennaro died in prison. When the gendarmerie approached him at the airport, the Italian press told Licciardi: "Is the gendarmerie manned?"
