Georgian PM: Opposition will not achieve success in the streets
"The opposition tried to achieve some success in the streets, but to succeed in both elections and in the streets requires the same resource, which is public support—something they lack," Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who is on a visit to Baku, told journalists, Paralel.Az's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
"Four years ago, the opposition made the same attempt and achieved some success, as back then we were compelled, due to external interference, to enter negotiations and sign the April 19 agreement. Now, however, they lack such resources. Therefore, the processes will proceed smoothly. Soon, the Central Election Commission will conclude the election results, then the first session of parliament will take place by the end of the month, and the new composition of the government will be approved within a few days after that. Most likely, all of this will be completed by the end of the month, the processes will continue very smoothly. Public support is on the side of the ruling party, and the ruling party is on the side of its team, while the opposition practically has zero support, and that is the main part. The opposition tried to gain some success in the streets, but to win in elections and in the streets requires the same resource, which is public support, and that is what they lack," the Prime Minister said.
