Biden talks about discussing Arctic methane with Putin

The problem of methane emissions in the Arctic became the topic of conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden during their meeting in Geneva after the 2020 US elections, Biden announced this on March 29 at a Democratic Party event to raise funds for the election campaign; a transcript of his speech was published on website White House, Paralel.Az reports citing Pravda.

As Biden indicated, during the meeting he asked the Russian president what he plans to do about the problem of methane emissions in the Arctic. At the same time, according to the American leader, Putin knew about the existence of the problem, but did not voice any ways to solve it. Biden expressed concern about the environmental situation and noted that “no one knows how to fix it yet.” The American president emphasized that Russia has eight time zones beyond the Arctic Circle, where there are methane emissions.
