Iceland volcano erupts near Blue Lagoon

 

A volcanic eruption started on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland, three km north of Grindavik at 22:17 local time on Monday following the earthquake swarm that started around 21:00 local time, said an announcement from the Icelandic Met Office, Paralel.Az reports citing Xinhua.

The National Police Commissioner has decided to declare a Civil Defense (Protection) emergency level, due to the volcanic eruption in Reykjanes, according to Icelandic National Broadcasting Service RUV.
