EU party chiefs reach deal on von der Leyen's commission nominees
European Parliament leaders have reached an agreement to approve the members of the next European Commission following elections earlier this year, Paralel.Az reports citing Reuters.
The agreement means the new Commission working under German conservative Ursula von der Leyen will likely take office by December - in line with the president's planned timing.
The EU assembly still has to formally approve all 26 commissioners, which is expected to be next week.
The Hungarian candidate Oliver Varhelyi and all six proposed executive vice presidents, including Estonia's Kaja Kallas, Italian Raffaele Fitto and Teresa Ribera from Spain, were held up as parliamentary groups argued over various political issues.
