US’ veto in Security Council nullifies international efforts for ceasefire in Gaza — Hamas

By using its veto at the UN Security Council to block a resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the US has effectively nullified the efforts of the international community to stop the hostilities in the Palestinian enclave, Hamas said, Paralel.Az reports citing TASS.

"Hamas condemns the US veto in the Security Council against the resolution presented this evening, which called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza," the movement said in a statement, published on its Telegram channel. It underscored that "the US’ hostile position nullifies the will of the international community," allowing the war to continue in the Palestinian enclave.

The Gaza radicals believe that the US authorities’ decision "once again proves that [the US] is a direct partner in the [Israeli] aggression against the Palestinian people and bears full responsibility for the ongoing war in the strip, as well as the occupation" of Palestinian lands. Hamas called on Washington to "stop this hostile policy," if the US "truly, as the American Administration claims, seeks to put an end to the war and achieve stability and security in the region."
