Geomagnetic storm is expected to occur on Earth on October 4-5
A geomagnetic storm is expected on the Earth on October 4-5 due to solar flares, the Department of Astrophysics of the Physics Faculty of Baku State University (BSU) told Paralel.Az.
According to the information, solar activity is forecasted to remain moderate to high, with some probability of class M (medium-sized flares) and isolated class X (strong) flares. Geoactivity and solar wind parameters will be at a high level as a result of the influence of high-speed flows from coronal holes.
A G2 (moderate) hurricane is expected from the night of October 4 until around 08:00 AM. Subsequently, the geomagnetic field will decrease to background levels. A G2 (moderate) geomagnetic storm is forecasted to occur from 9:00 p.m. that day, and a G1 (mild) geomagnetic storm from 1:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on October 5.
