Four years pass since Tovuz battles
Today marks the fourth anniversary of the Tovuz battles, Paralel.Az reports.
Four years have passed since the Azerbaijani Army's victory at the Tovuz battles.
On July 12, 2020, provocations by Armenian armed forces in the direction of the Tovuz region of Azerbaijan's state border were resolutely prevented.
The Tovuz battles went down in Azerbaijani military history as a victorious battle.
More than 100 Armenian personnel were killed, and dozens of military structures were destroyed.
Major General Polad Hashimov, Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev, Major Namig Ahmadov, Major Anar Novruzov, Senior Lieutenant Rashad Mahmudov, warrant officer Ilgar Zeynalov, warrant officer Yashar Babayev, Sergeant Elchin Mustafazade, Chief Sergeant Vugar Sadigov, Sergeant Nazim Ismayilov, chief soldier Elshad Mammadov and soldier Khayyam Dashdamirov heroically martyred on the battles with the enemy.
In addition, a projectile fired by Armenians landed on one of the houses in Aghdam village, killing the owner, citizen Aziz Aliyev, 76.
Along with that, as a result of artillery and mortar attacks by Armenians, houses, administrative buildings, civil facilities and schools were severely damaged in several villages on the border with Armenia in the Tovuz district.
According to the order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev dated December 9, 2020, Major General Hashimov Polad Israil oglu and Colonel Mirzayev Ilgar Anzor oglu were named "National Hero of Azerbaijan" for their special services in the restoration of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and for their heroism while conducting combat missions.
