Ukrainian leader dismisses Olympics ceasefire
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected France's proposal for a ceasefire with Russia during the Olympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 11. He said he communicated his refusal in a call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Paralel.Az reports citing AFP.
"Who can guarantee that Russia will not use this time to bring its forces to our territory?" Zelenskyy told the AFP.
"We are against any truce that plays into the hands of the enemy."
He added that Ukraine does not trust Russian President Vladimir Putin to adhere to such a ceasefire and that there is a risk Russia would "bring heavy equipment to our territory and no one will be able to stop them."
