The leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, called on France to withdraw from the European Union and "destroy" this community in order to save the republic's agriculture, amid the desire of the European Commission (EC) to adopt a free trade agreement between the EU and the South American Common Market (Mercosur), Paralel.Az reports citing Pravda.

According to the politician, who expressed his opinion on X (formerly Twitter), the European Commission committed a "huge provocation" in the midst of the farmers' protests in France. The EC's intention to accelerate the adoption of a free trade agreement with Mercosur will "ruin agriculture" in France, Philippot stressed.

"Let's destroy the European Union before it destroys us!" the French politician wrote, adding that France needs to "leave the EU."
