Election Commission to vet voter group backing Putin's 2024 presidential bid

Russia's Central Election Commission on Wednesday will consider the registration of the group of voters who supported the self-nomination of incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin for the March 2024 presidential election, as well as his financial commissioners, says a draft agenda of the CEC meeting, Paralel.Az reports citing TASS.

On December 18, Putin submitted all the necessary paperwork to the Central Election Commission to run for head of state in 2024.

Additionally, CEC members will spend Wednesday's meeting looking into Putin's authorized representatives on financial issues and the opening of his special election account, necessary to start collecting voter signatures for registration in the election.

The set of documents that the president submitted to the CEC includes an application to register the group with the personal data of the candidate and all participants, the protocol of the meeting, a list of the group's commissioners, the candidate's declaration of consent to run, and a number of other documents.
