Azerbaijan increases environmental protection spending more than 2 times
Environmental protection spending in Azerbaijan is being increased more than 2 times, the chairman of the parliamentary Committee for Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology Sadig Gurbanov during the discussion of the draft state budget for next year at a joint meeting of the committee for Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, Labour and Social Policy Committee, the Committee of Healthcare and Committee on Foreign and Interparliamentary Relations, Paralel.Az reports.
Sadig Gurbanov said that the wprks carried out by Azerbaijan in the field of climate change prevention are highly appreciated by the international community: “The fact that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which is considered one of the most prestigious events in the world due to the number and level of participants and the relevance of the issues discussed, is being held in Azerbaijan in 2024 by the unanimous decision of the countries of the world is a vivid example of this. If 178.3 million manats (0.77% of the state budget) were allocated for environmental protection measures in the 2018 state budget, then in 2024 this figure will be 376.9 million manats (2.1 times more and 0.95% of the state budget)."
