Russian MFA: Elections in Moldova were most undemocratic in history
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that the presidential elections in Moldova were undemocratic, Paralel.Az reports citing Belnovosti.
The diplomat's statement was posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Commenting on the election results, a representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they were the most undemocratic in all the years of the republic’s independence.
According to Zakharova, the elections were accompanied by unprecedented repressions against the opposition and independent media, numerous violations and falsifications.
The diplomat continued that the discrimination by the Moldovan authorities against voters living in the Russian Federation deserves special mention: only two polling stations were opened for the half-million Moldovan diaspora.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the Moldovan authorities will not follow the lead of the West and will take the path of respecting the interests of the majority of citizens living in Moldova itself, and not in Western countries.
