Representatives of Mayotte, part of the Comoros Islands occupied by France, to gather in Baku
On September 2-3, public and political figures, diplomats, representatives of scientific circles, leaders of non-governmental organizations, and members of political parties from the independent Comoros Union, which suffers from France's neo-colonial policies, as well as from Mayotte, an island of the Comoros occupied by France, will gather in Baku, Paralel.Az reports.
On the sidelines of the visit, the guests will hold a series of bilateral meetings and will also participate in the screening of the short film titled "Mayotte: The Island of Death," dedicated to Mayotte, at the Nizami Cinema Center.
At the event, Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group, a representative from the "CBC TV" channel who participated in the film's production, and the guests will make speeches.
Note that the short film "Mayotte: The Island of Death" addresses the challenges and consequences of occupation faced by the Comoros Archipelago in the contemporary era. The film clearly illustrates the disparity in living standards between the local inhabitants of Mayotte, who live in poverty, and the wealthy French settlers who have been relocated from France.
