The head of Azerbaijan's Delegation to NATO spoke about the attack on him and his wife in Brussels
"While on vacation on August 5, at 15:00 Brussels time, I and my wife were attacked by 2 unknown persons in front of the house where I live in Belgium. These persons forcibly entered the building when we entered the entrance, threatened us with guns and knives, and demanded that we give them our belongings, " Jafar Huseynzade, Head of the Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to NATO, told Paralel.Az News Agency while speaking about the attack against him in Brussels.
"They took my wife's bag and rolex model watches from our arms and left the area, inflicting minor injuries on us. The police immediately came to the area and started investigating the incident. According to the information provided by the police, appropriate investigative measures are currently being continued in order to bring the criminals to justice.
I would also like to mention that the publication of pictures of the building we live in in the Belgian media is unacceptable for security reasons. It is also unfortunate that the price of our stolen watches has been exaggerated in the press to an extreme extent and many times. Although our watches are Rolex, they are metallic and simple models. About this incident of attack, the Belgian side was also officially addressed by our embassy and measures were requested to be taken within the framework of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations to ensure the immunity of diplomats and to prevent such attacks against them," the statement said.
