Has compensation been paid for the rise in diesel fuel prices?
Vahid Maharramli: "It seems that there is a financial shortage in the budget ..."
As Paralel.az reports, in January this year, the Tariff (Price) Council raised the price of gasoline and diesel fuel. The justification of the decision stated that compensation would be provided to those affected by the rise in diesel prices - agricultural farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in passenger transportation. We investigated whether the compensation was paid. Entrepreneurs in both sectors said they were unaware of the existence of such compensation.
In this case, we appealed to the Baku Transport Agency (BTA), the governing body for the allocation of compensation to the transport sector. In response to our inquiry, the agency said that such a decision does not exist at present. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, a decision is still being made to compensate farmers for the increase in diesel fuel prices. Despite the fact that seven months have passed since the rise in prices for diesel fuel, the compensation provided for in the decision of the Tariff (Price) Council has not yet been delivered to businesses. Farmers have already put their products on the market, but have not received compensation for the rise in fuel prices, which is a major factor in its cost. Then they say why fruits and vegetables are becoming more expensive.
Agriculture specialist Vahid Maharramli told our correspondent that this is not the first case, there have been many such cases, and even a concrete decision is made, but it is not implemented: "It seems that there is a financial constraint in the budget. At the end of the year, there will always be a slight increase in compensation. "
