Hungarian PM: Election to European Parliament has created a real earthquake effect
"In the last election to the European Parliament, voters voted for changes in 20 out of 27 member countries," Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban said as he addressed the Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Shusha, Paralel.Az reports.
He also stated that the recent election to the European Parliament has created a real political earthquake effect in the region:
"The elections to the European Parliament have resulted in a real political earthquake. In 20 out of the 27 member countries, people voted for change. In several pro-war countries, governments changed, while in others, their power weakened. This was a result of their stance. The second round of the early elections in France will be held on July 7. Currently, debates between two political forces in the European Union are ongoing. The unchanging factor is that patriotic political forces have gained more support as a result of the election. Let me say that the 'Patriots for Europe' parliamentary group, whose establishment will be officially announced on Monday, will immediately become the third-largest political force in Brussels by the number of its members. Although the power of federalization supporters has significantly weakened in this election, they have managed to retain the majority. They advocate for a change in the current leadership of the Council of the European Union. The European Parliament, in turn, will discuss this issue on July 17. On the other hand, the European Union has started negotiations regarding the membership of the countries participating in the Eastern Partnership Program. This issue creates a new situation around the program and requires solving the tasks it sets. It seems that the second phase of the 'Eastern Partnership' program is expected to begin. However, this team will have significant tasks ahead in the future. We will definitely resolve these issues with President Ilham Aliyev."
