Azerbaijan eliminates case allowing reduction of marriage age by 1 year
Azerbaijan is eliminating case allowing reduction of marriage age by 1 year, it is reflected in the amendment proposed to the Family Code, which was discussed at today's meeting Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), Paralel.Az reports.
According to the Family Code, the marriage age in the Republic of Azerbaijan is set at 18 years. However, if there are valid reasons, at present, the relevant executive authority of the territory of residence of persons wishing to marry and who have not reached the marriage age may, at their request, allow a reduction of the marriage age by no more than 1 year.
According to the draft law, this case is eliminated, and a reduction of the marriage age by no more than 1 year is not allowed.
The draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
