Turkish colonel: Azerbaijan and Türkiye have taken successful joint steps within Shusha Declaration
Azerbaijan and Türkiye have taken successful joint steps in many areas, especially in the defense industry, within the framework of the Shusha Declaration, Sadik Akyar, retired colonel of the Turkish Armed Forces and professor of Girne American University (GAU) told Paralel.Az's Istanbul bureau.
He also emphasized that the creation of a joint mechanism to regulate the implementation of the Shusha Declaration should be among the steps taken in this direction: "Currently, ambassadors of both countries are monitoring this process, and ultimately, comprehensive regulation will be carried out with the relevant ministries. In the current era, amid multipolar climate change and economic crises worldwide, it is crucial to establish a joint mechanism to oversee the Shusha Declaration."
According to S. Akyar, through the establishment of a joint mechanism, it may be possible to present decisions agreed upon between Azerbaijan and Türkiye to other member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
"This will help realize OTS' claim to be a regional power and make the Shusha Declaration signed between Azerbaijan and Türkiye a guide and road map for the member countries of the organization. On the other hand, this mechanism will create coordination with the Baku Declaration, which includes Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan, thereby paving the way for the implementation of joint projects. As a result, it is possible to achieve the Shusha Declaration as a road map for the Turkic world through a joint mechanism at the level of the secretariat or ambassadors," political commentator Mehmet Sadık Akyar noted.
