The election of Türkiye's Erzurum and Azerbaijan's Shusha cities as tourism capitals for 2025-2026 will contribute to the development of regional cooperation in the field of tourism, Khusrav Noziri, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) told journalists, Paralel.Az-Economics reports.

He said that in the background of cooperation in the field of tourism, every year the ECO has a new initiative to announce tourism capitals: "This year, the city of Shahrisabz of Uzbekistan bears this title, but in 2025 and 2026, respectively, the cities of Erzurum in Türkiye and Shusha in Azerbaijan will receive the status of the official tourism capital of the ECO region. 2026 will further contribute to the development of regional cooperation in the field of tourism."
