102 missing persons were identified, the remains of 35 of them were handed over to their families: State Commission

 

As known, search, excavation, and exhumation work in the territories liberated from the occupation are conducted with the employees and experts of the state institutions represented at Azerbaijan's State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, an employee of the State Commission Jamilagha Aghayev said, Paralel.Az reports.

According to him, until now, 16 mass graves have been discovered in the liberated territories: "In total, more than 500 human remains have been taken and handed over to the relevant laboratories for their identities to be determined. Genetic molecular analysis is conducted by the Main Military Medical Department of the State Security Service (SSS). Let me note that starting from 2014, the State Commission has taken biospecimens from the relatives of the missing families and they were profiled and added to the database."

Jamilagha Aghayev added that currently, identification is being made with analyses of samples taken from human remains: “Their identities are being determined. Until now, 102 persons have been authenticated, the remains of 35 martyrs have already been handed over to their families, and funeral ceremonies for them have been held. The matter regarding 73 people is in the preparation stage, their identities will be made public soon. Currently, the State Commission is continuing the search-exhumation process in the area.”

The associate of the State Commission also said that the mentioned process is very time-consuming and complicated.
