Washington commemorates 32nd anniversary of Khojaly Genocide

 

A commemorative ceremony on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide was held at the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States of America, the Embassy told Paralel.Az.

The event was attended by the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in the United States Digdem Buner, employees of the Turkish Embassy and the representatives of the Azerbaijani and Turkish communities living in the United States

The citizens martyred during the Khojaly Genocide were commemorated with a minute of silence.

The director of the film "Children of War" Shamil Najafzada delivered a speech at the event and spoke about the fate of the victims of the First Garabagh War, who are the characters of his film.

At the end of the official part of the commemoration ceremony, the documentary short film "Khojaly's icon" was shown.

In the cultural part of the event, the Chairman of the Mugham Society of America Jeffrey Werbock, who dedicated a large part of his life to the promotion of Azerbaijani culture and music, shared his memories with the event participants and played Azerbaijani music on the kamancha.
