"If Armenia wants to get closer with NATO, it should understand what this will lead to," the Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova noted in a briefing she held today as she talked about Yerevan getting closer with NATO, Paralel.Az's Moscow correspondent reports.

According to her, if someone wants closeness (with NATO - ed.), they should understand how much safe this is and what it will lead to.

Zakharova noted that first it is necessary to understand what is beneficial for Armenia itself and its national interests.

"It is necessary to open the map and see in what region and among which neighbors this country is located and to read the history books," Russian MFA Spokesperson stressed.
