Ecuador’s authorities gained the release of all prison officers taken hostage by gang members, the country’s penal service said, Paralel.Az reports.

"The collaborative effort of the service <...> and national police made it possible to effect the release of all security and penitentiary oversight officers, as well as administrative employees that were held in several detention centers," the service said on the X social network.

Authorities informed before that armed gangs took at least 139 employees hostage in Ecuador’s prisons.
