Georgian Dream holds congress, Bidzina Ivanishvili returns to politics -UPDATED

 

The ruling Georgian Dream party of Georgia has held a congress, Paralel.Az's Tbilisi correspondent reports.

The composition of the political council of the party was approved at the congress attended by 350 representatives. According to the change made to the party's charter, the number of members of the Political Council was determined to be 15 people including the chairman of the party.

These are Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, Secretary General of the party, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Head of the parliamentary faction of the party Mamuka Mdinaradze, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Thea Tsulukiani, Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, Chairman of the Government of the Ajara Autonomous Republic Tornike Rijvadze, First Deputy of the Parliament Gia Volski, Deputy Chairpersons Archil Talakvadze, Irakli Chikovani, Dmitri Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee Anri Okhanashvli, Deputy Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee Maka Bochorishvili.

Additionally, the position of honorary chairman of the party was appointed at the congress, and this position was given to the founder of the party, billionaire businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili. Thus, Ivanishvili's official return to politics has been confirmed.
