Las Vegas campus shooting leaves three victims; suspect also dead

Police said there were at least three victims in a shooting at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) campus on Wednesday, and that the suspect was dead, Paralel.Az reports citing The Guardian.

The extent of the victims’ injuries was not immediately clear or if any of them were killed, and officials said the number of victims could change. The Las Vegas metro police department said at about 1:30pm local time that “a number of victims have been transported to area hospitals”. An hour prior, the department said the suspect “has been located and is deceased”, but did not share any further details about the shooter and said there was no information about possible motive.

Officials said there was no ongoing threat and that police had set up a hotline for people affected by the shooting.

The department first reported the shooting at noon, saying on Twitter/X that there were “preliminary reports of an active shooter” on campus near a business school building called Beam Hall. “There appears to be multiple victims at this time,” the statement said. Officials advised people on campus to shelter in place.

“This is not a test,” the university said in one post. “RUN-HIDE-FIGHT”. The Associated Press reported that a Swat team that appeared to be with the FBI was seen moving onto campus just before 1pm after the police reported that the suspect was dead.
