We see a real opportunity to achieve peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Assistant Secretary of U.S. State for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O'Brien, Paralel.Az reports.

"We are encouraged by the direct communication between both sides, as well as the engagement through intermediaries. There is a real opportunity for the entire region to benefit from this dialogue. For instance, envisioning trade routes from Central Asia passing through Azerbaijan and Armenia to reach Türkiye holds significant potential for boosting economic development along that path.

Simultaneously, if a peaceful resolution is deemed unattainable, we will employ all available means to thwart the establishment of such a trade route.

We remain receptive to the positive aspects of the situation. Recognizing their expressed interest in reaching a peace agreement soon, we earnestly hope for its realization," said James C. O'Brien.
