Armenian politician: "Sargsyan's resignation indicates the weakness of the political system of Armenia"

The resignation of the President of Armenia is aimed at implementing constitutional changes and returning to a semi-presidential form of government. Politician Vigen Hakobyan said: “Sargsyan was either given a hint that he should leave, or he understood.
The ultimate goal of these processes is to legitimize Pashkin's ability to expand his powers by reducing his dependence on the parliamentary majority. Because the semi-presidential form of government has always allowed the president to shift responsibility to the other side.
The return to this system gives it serious opportunities to strengthen its power. Presidential elections will be scheduled a few months after the decision to hold a referendum on constitutional changes and if this process is successful.
Sargsyan's resignation testifies to the weakness of the Armenian political system. Considering that the country is in a constant state of war and that the presidential form of government ensures a stable and centralized government, the advantage is clear. However, no system can be made absolute, as examples from different countries testify.
