Why is Israel closing its borders?

Israel is closing its borders for two weeks due to the new omicron coronavirus strain.
As Paralel.az reports, the statement came from the Israeli Coronavirus Commission. Israelis returning from overseas are reportedly required to undergo PCR testing at the airport and be quarantined. The quarantine period will be 3 days for those who have recovered from the virus and those who have been vaccinated, 7 days for those who have not been vaccinated or retested, and 14 days without it. It should be noted that omicron is known for its high transmission potential and vaccine resistance.
