How do you fight counterfeit brands?
Eyyub Huseynov: "The country's food market is controlled by two government agencies"
Recently, there has been a sale of various food products, especially under counterfeit brands. For example, it is already common in the press and on websites that fake drinks are sold under the "Sirab" brand. This primarily damages the rating and budget of the entrepreneur who owns the brand. Thus, regular customers of Sirab waters are deceived and buy counterfeit products, on the one hand, the entrepreneur loses, and on the other hand, the health of the customer is endangered. But who is responsible for the absence or elimination of such problems in Azerbaijan?
To find the answer to the question, we turned to food safety expert, chairman of the Free Consumers Union Eyyub Huseynov. The expert said that the country's food market is controlled by two government agencies - the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AFSA) and the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy. AQTA shrugs off the issue, saying that we control the quality and safety of the product, and if the product is useful, we are not interested in who produced it. This is perhaps the right approach. This issue should be directly controlled by AIBNDX. In order to start the process, entrepreneurs must be active, they must apply to the Service on the facts and make demands on them. However, synchronous communication with government agencies for operational appeals is very weak. But there are other ways, for example, with our organization your media resources can implement a project at the request of entrepreneurs, and on the basis of this project we can easily detect counterfeit products and identify their production addresses. It's just that our entrepreneurs are very passive in this direction. "
