Digital trade with Turkey will develop

Azerbaijani side is not yet ready to launch digital trade mechanism

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on cooperation in the field of digital trade.
This is reported by the "Official Bulletin". The document was signed on April 2, 2021 in Baku. The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to digitize trade between the two countries in order to promote the sustainable development of digital commerce. The document aims to create a communication mechanism and a legal framework for cooperation in the field of digital commerce.
According to experts, after the adoption of the document, the working group on the working mechanism began to work. Within a month, the working group aims to turn digital trade between Turkey and Azerbaijan into a rhythmic mechanism. However, after the start of work, it became clear that the Azerbaijani side was not yet ready to launch such a digital rhythmic trade mechanism between governments. Therefore, since April, a working group of Turks and Azerbaijanis has been working on the digital commerce section of the e-government portal of Azerbaijan. According to unofficial information of the working group, in order for the mechanism to work in full force, several months of intensive work are still required.
Hopefully, a digital trade mechanism between the governments of Turkey and Azerbaijan will be launched in the next few months.
On the one hand, it will speed up intergovernmental trade, make it easier for businessmen who want to import goods from Turkey, and make it safer to purchase goods online from distributors of various brands operating in Turkey and Azerbaijan.
