Many clergy do not approve of such a massive mourning. However, in many places there are no restrictions on how these events can be held within a certain framework. However, it should not be forgotten that a plague called the coronavirus is now threatening people all over the world. There is a way to protect yourself from this trouble - mask and distance. At mass events such as Ashura, it is almost impossible to fulfill this requirement. Therefore, the clergy must convince the faithful that such ceremonies are not currently recommended.
For two years now, pilgrims have not been able to perform the Hajj, one of the basic conditions of Islam. This does not mean that their religious beliefs have weakened. Calamity is a calamity for everyone, and it is the responsibility of the clergy to explain it to the believers. Police intervention in such cases can cause discontent among people.
