Employees of the Main Customs Directorate of Air Transport prevented an attempt to transport a large amount of foreign currency through the customs border of the Republic of Azerbaijan without declaring it.
Thus, a foreign citizen traveling on a Baku-Istanbul flight did not declare foreign currency in advance to the customs authority upon entering the customs control zone, and also did not declare it orally, in writing or electronically.
As his luggage passed through the X-ray machine, images of suspicious objects were visible on the monitor, and the citizen was invited to the office for a second examination.
In the bag and suitcase of the citizen, 52,000 (fifty-two thousand) dollars were found.
An investigation is underway.
