Azerbaijan accepted Russia's initiative on a ceasefire on the border with Armenia at 10:00 local time (09:00 Moscow time) today. "However, the Armenian side continues to aggravate the situation using a tank and 120-meter mortars and fire on the positions of the Azerbaijani military," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.
The head of the Armenian Ombudsman's Office, Arman Tatoyan, announced that several settlements in the Gegharkunik region on the border with the Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan were fired at with large-caliber weapons. "There have been reports of civilians shelling the villages of Sotk, Kut, Azat, Norabak, Nerkin Shorja and Verin Shorja," the statement said. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry says that provocations by the Armenian military continued in the direction of the Kalbajar region yesterday and on the night of July 27-28. In turn, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported on the attack of Azerbaijani servicemen entering the territory of Armenia and the fighting in the north-east of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
