A 3,500-year-old historical work has been discovered
A New York federal court has ruled that the Gilgamesh Dream Tablet, part of the world's oldest literary work, the Gilgamesh Epic, has been confiscated. According to Turkish media, the authorities have investigated how the 3,500-year-old historical work entered the country. Evaluating the court's decision, New York Deputy Attorney General Jacquelyn M. Casulis said in an official statement: "This stage is very important in terms of returning the rare and ancient masterpiece of world literature to the country of origin." A US court has ruled that the Gilgamesh Dream Tablet entered the country illegally.
According to the report, a US antiques dealer bought a dirty-coated and unreadable Gilgamesh Dream Tablet from a family member of a London coin seller and sent it to the states. After being imported and cleaned, cuneiform experts realized that it was part of the tablet. The tablet measures approximately 15.24 cm and 17.7 cm and is written in Akkadian. According to the report, the saga is known as the oldest literary work from ancient Mesopotamia. The saga is written on 12 boards.
