Iraqi environment minister resigns

Iraqi Environment Minister Nizar Amedi has resigned from the cabinet, the official Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported on Friday, Paralel.Az reports.

INA quoted an unnamed source as saying that Amedi submitted his resignation to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani to devote himself to his political duties within his political party the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Kurdish media reported that Amedi's resignation came after consultations within the PUK, where it was decided that he would step down from his cabinet minister position to focus on party-related responsibilities in Baghdad.
