Azerbaijan's FM discussed normalization process with Armenia with Special Assistant to the U.S. President

 

On October 21, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation led by Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council, MFA told Paralel.Az.

During the meeting, bilateral and regional issues between Azerbaijan and the United States were discussed, as well as the current status and prospects of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The importance of enhancing efforts to create positive dynamics in bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States and to identify future cooperation prospects was emphasized.

During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other party about the processes related to normalization and the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the recent meeting in Istanbul. Despite significant progress in peace negotiations, it was highlighted that the most serious obstacle to signing a final peace agreement is the continuation of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in a number of legal and political documents of this country, especially the Constitution of Armenia.

At the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on regional issues of mutual interest.
