26 companies operating in Armenia's mining industry damage region's ecology
"There are 26 companies operating in the field of mining industry in Armenia, and their work damages the ecology of Azerbaijan and the region,” said Sabit Baghirov, the chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Market Economy at today’s briefing, Paralel.Az reports.
He said that this issue should also be approached from the context of Azerbaijani compatriots who will return to their homelands in Armenia:
“Harmful substances flow with the rivers that flow through the territory of Armenia and pour into Araz, Bargushad and Okchucha, thereby passing through the territory of Azerbaijan. This step is harmful to the health of our citizens who will return to their homeland in Armenia. First of all, the regulation of this issue should be observed within the framework of international conventions. Although Azerbaijan joined these conventions, Armenia did not. Because signing this document imposes a number of obligations related to environmental safety on Armenia. I assume that after the signing of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, documents related to this should be signed between both countries and the responsibility of 26 companies operating in the mining field in Armenia should be increased.”
