Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament and participants of international conference meet with Tajik President

 

As reported earlier, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova is on a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan to attend the International Parliamentary Conference called to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, Press and Public Relations Department of Azerbaijani Parliament told Paralel.Az.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and the Heads of Parliamentary Delegations of the other countries having taken part in the Conference had a meeting with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on 10 October.

Having welcomed the guests, the President of Tajikistan spoke of the importance of this international conference. He also talked about the role of the adoption of the Constitution in the development of Tajikistan, including in the strengthening of the traditions of parliamentarism in the country.

Besides, he described the adoption of the Constitution as one of the first and sustainable steps taken towards political reforms and strengthening the country's independence.

Emomali Rahmon also commented on the important aspects of co-operation between the countries, including the humanitarian ties that rest on cultural and historical similarities, and emphasised that the legislative assemblies of our countries could make a serious contribution to the constructive development of this process. The conversation also focused on the co-operation of the parliaments within international and regional inter-parliamentary entities.
