Azerbaijani FM speaks at UN General Assembly Summit of Future

 

On September 23, 2024, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov spoke at the Summit of the Future organized at the UN headquarters as part of his participation in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, Paralel.Az reports.

In his speech, Jeyhun Bayramov stated the importance of supporting existing international commitments with decisive steps towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and noted that Azerbaijan continues to advance the sustainable development agenda.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that after the liberation of our territories from occupation, new opportunities have emerged towards the implementation of the SDGs, and stated that the large-scale restoration and construction work currently underway includes all aspects of the implementation of the SDGs.

It was noted that Azerbaijan has restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity, put an end to the illegal occupation, and is the author of the initiative to begin the process of normalizing relations with Armenia based on mutual recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The importance of the necessary political will and responsibility to remove the remaining obstacles to continuing the progress achieved in the peace process was also noted.

Stating that our country will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in November this year, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that in the fight against the threat of climate change, Azerbaijan unites developed and developing countries and works to strengthen cooperation on climate issues based on inclusiveness.
